Is the degree of an affair inversely proportional to the degree of "limbo" experienced by the betrayed spouse (BS)?

I think the limbo experienced by a betrayed spouse is entirely dependent upon his or her temperament, philosophy, history, and general disposition, regardless of the wayward spouse and the severity of the infidelity.

Generally speaking, surviving infidelity is the one of the most painful and challenging traumatic experiences anyone will ever face, testing us to the very core of our being.

Some people will take immediate action. Some will become emotionally and psychologically paralyzed. Most of us fall somewhere in between for varied periods of time for a plethora of reasons.
